The ICAN May 2014 Pathfinder is available below for all four tiers of that era — Foundation, Intermediate, Professional Examination I and Professional Examination II. Each pack holds the Institute’s actual examination questions for the diet plus its suggested solutions and examiners’ reports, free to download as PDF. The May 2014 diet closed ICAN’s four-tier era — it was the last diet examined as Foundation, Intermediate, P.E. I and P.E. II before the three-level 2014 syllabus arrived that November.

Subjects examined in May 2014
May 2014 sat under ICAN’s pre-2014 structure: four tiers, not the three levels used today. Candidates progressed Foundation → Intermediate → Professional Examination I → Professional Examination II, 15 papers in all. ICAN collapsed this into the familiar Foundation–Skills–Professional ladder from the November 2014 diet. The papers remain useful for one reason above all: the questions and examiners’ reports show how ICAN marks, and that has changed far less than the syllabus names.

How these papers map to today’s ICAN levels
If you are preparing for a current diet, use this rough mapping when you practise with May 2014 questions:
- Foundation and Intermediate papers cover ground now spread across today’s Foundation and Skills levels — financial accounting, law, costing, audit and taxation fundamentals.
- P.E. I and P.E. II papers correspond to today’s Skills and Professional levels. Financial Reporting and Ethics leads to Strategic Business Reporting; Strategic Financial Management and Advanced Taxation carry the same names today.
- Ignore retired papers such as Business Communication and Research Methodology — nothing at the current levels examines them.

Why does May 2014 have four levels instead of three?
Until the May 2014 diet, ICAN examined candidates across four stages — Foundation, Intermediate, Professional Examination I and Professional Examination II. The 2014 syllabus, first sat in November 2014, merged these into the current three levels of Foundation, Skills and Professional.
Are these papers still worth practising with?
For technique, yes. Accounting fundamentals, audit approach and tax computation method change slowly, and the examiners’ reports in each pack show exactly how marks were gained and lost. For subject coverage, work from the current syllabus — several May 2014 papers no longer exist.
Does the archive go back further than November 2011?
November 2011 is the oldest diet with complete PDF packs. A May 2011 set exists only in legacy .doc format, so it is not published here.
